Glutathione

$65.00

A central antioxidant found throughout the human body, glutathione supports cellular defense, redox balance, immune activity, liver-detoxification pathways, protection from oxidative stress, and healthy skin clarity. Human trials have shown that supplementation can raise glutathione stores throughout the body and may positively influence immune and skin-health markers.

Research Details

Glutathione Scientific Research Overview Glutathione is a naturally occurring tripeptide composed of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. It plays a central role in cellular redox regulation, antioxidant defense, xenobiotic metabolism, protein-thiol maintenance, and the recycling of other antioxidant systems. Research has examined glutathione status in relation to oxidative stress, immune-cell activity, metabolic function, neurological disorders, and cellular resilience. Published Research Findings In a six-month randomized controlled trial, oral glutathione supplementation increased glutathione concentrations in whole blood, plasma, erythrocytes, lymphocytes, and buccal cells. At six months, increases in several measured compartments reached approximately 30% to 35%, with effects varying by dose and tissue. A smaller pilot study of liposomal glutathione reported increases in glutathione measurements after one to two weeks, along with reductions in selected oxidative-stress biomarkers. Because this was a small study involving a specific proprietary formulation, the results should not be generalized to every glutathione preparation. A three-week randomized study involving individuals with obesity, with and without type 2 diabetes, reported improved insulin sensitivity after oral glutathione supplementation. However, the study did not find corresponding improvements in the measured oxidative-stress markers. Not every controlled study has found meaningful increases in glutathione status or oxidative-stress outcomes, indicating that absorption and biological effects depend on formulation, route, population, study duration, and baseline glutathione status. Evidence and Regulatory Context Glutathione is an endogenous molecule and has been investigated through oral, topical, inhaled, intravenous, and other experimental delivery methods. Findings from one formulation or administration route cannot establish the safety, bioavailability, or effectiveness of another. Description

Glutathione is a naturally produced tripeptide composed of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. Often described as the body’s central intracellular antioxidant, it helps protect cells from oxidative stress while supporting redox balance, immune activity, mitochondrial function, and the liver’s natural detoxification pathways. Glutathione also helps regenerate other antioxidants and participates in the neutralization and processing of reactive compounds throughout the body.

Human supplementation trials have shown that certain oral and liposomal forms can increase glutathione stores in blood and other tissues. Research has also reported favorable changes in immune-function markers and measurements of oxidative damage. These properties have made glutathione a major focus in longevity, liver-health, skin-clarity, recovery, immune-support, and cellular-protection research. It is also widely incorporated into integrative and wellness-clinic protocols centered on antioxidant support, oxidative-stress management, and maintaining the cellular environment required for healthy function and repair.
